Bagong Bayani – Island Pacific Vallejo

VALLEJO, California – Chito Casmiro has been selected as one of the Island Pacific’s Bagong Bayani profiles. He is one of the area managers of Island Pacific Supermarket covering Vallejo, Pittsburgh, and Elk Grove. He has been with the company for almost 20 years now.In an effort to provide more protection for his employees, Casmiro built custom face shields for his cashiers and workers. Using ordinary items that can be purchased at local tool shops, Casmiro’s shields and just as good as the professional manufactured ones. And they’re cheaper, too. “One face shield costs less than $5 and it’s easy to make,” he said. “It will take only 5 minutes to do it.”

He even made a video to show other stores how to make their own shields and arm their workers with it. With the personal protective equipment and the use of social distancing, Island Pacific Vallejo said they are safely providing quality customer service to their guests. “We’re trying to make sure our stores are well-stocked to serve our kababayans so they have something to put on their table during these times of crisis,” Casmiro said. Casmiro and the rest of the team at Island Pacific Vallejo said they are proud of the work they do and know that better times are ahead.

“We can defeat this virus and we heal as one,” Casmiro said.
