Last April 25, 2026, Island Pacific Los Angeles felt a little more like home. The smell of bagoong in the air, music playing in the background, and kababayans coming together. It was the kind of day that didn’t feel like an event, but a gathering. With Filipino streetfood available at the event, parang fiesta talaga. From Ilocos Empanada, Fishballs, Samalamig, ihaw at marami pang iba!

In partnership with Barrio Fiesta, we celebrated Bagoong Day in the most Filipino way possible: through kantahan, food, fun, and community.
One of the highlights was the cooking demo with Chef Eugene, who showed just how versatile bagoong can be. He demonstrated how Aglio Olio with Bagoong and Chicken Binagoongan works. Blending familiar Filipino flavors with a fresh twist. People gathered around, watching, and getting hungry. It wasn’t just a demo, it felt like sharing recipes from a family or loved ones.

What’s a Pinoy gathering without a little friendly competition? Bingo brought everyone together. Kababayans are laughing, cheering, and hoping to win Barrio Fiesta goodies and cash prizes. Every number called came with excitement, and every winner felt like a shared victory. Every near-win came with playful reactions, and every actual win was met with cheers from the crowd. Winners took home Barrio Fiesta merchandise and cash prizes, but more than that, everyone walked away smiling. It was the kind of activity that reminded you how Filipinos can turn even the simplest games into moments of connection and joy.
Guests also got to enjoy free bagoong tastings and product sampling, giving everyone a chance to rediscover a staple we all grew up with. Some found new favorites, while others were reminded of flavors they hadn’t tasted in a while.
As the day went on, the energy only grew. With a live band, karaoke, and spontaneous dancing, it turned into the kind of celebration where no one wanted to leave. From classic OPM songs to impromptu performances, it was pure joy, simple, genuine, and very Filipino.
Bagoong Day wasn’t just about highlighting a beloved ingredient, it was about bringing people together and celebrating the little things that connect us to home.
Maraming salamat to everyone who joined us, and to Barrio Fiesta for being part of this special day. Hanggang sa susunod na kwentuhan, kainan, at kasiyahan only here at Island Pacific Seafood Market.
