A Taste of Home: Island Pacific’s Filipino Fiesta Experience in West Covina

Last April 11, 2026, something special happened at Island Pacific Seafood Market West Covina. What started as a regular Saturday turned into a full-on Filipino celebration filled with music, games, food, and all the fiesta feels.

In celebration of Filipino Food Month, together with students from Da Vinci APISU, the store became more than just a place to shop. It became a space that felt like home. From the moment you walked in, you could already feel the energy. Families, students, and shoppers were all smiles. Some came to buy their favorite Filipino groceries, but many stayed for the experience.

The afternoon kicked off with host Gary Lim bringing the energy and welcoming everyone with that signature Filipino warmth. Then came the music. Bits of Motion filled the store with upbeat performances that had people vibing while shopping or stopping to watch.

In between sets, guests explored the store, grabbed Filipino street food outside, and took photos at the Sari-Sari store setup. Everywhere you looked, people were enjoying themselves.

It was not just a grocery trip. It really felt like a mini fiesta.

Of course, a Filipino gathering is not complete without a little friendly competition. Bingo Panalo became one of the highlights of the day. Kids, titas, kuyas, students, and even some furbabies all joined in.

Each BINGO round brought excitement, with different patterns to follow and complete. Four (4) patterns were used, each with its own prize. The Diagonal Round rewarded winners with a Barrio Fiesta wooden serving bowl. Alam mo na, kapag may bisita, iba ang kubyertos ni mama. X Marks the Spot came with a $50 cash prize. The Borders Round offered another $50 to a lucky winner.

Win or lose, everyone stayed engaged. People were laughing, cheering, and enjoying every moment. Walang malungkot kahit di nakabuo ng pattern, just good vibes all around.

One of the most loved spots was the Sari-Sari store installation. It gave guests a nostalgic feeling, reminding them of the small neighborhood stores back in the Philippines. Many took photos and shared them on social media to capture the experience and share it with friends online. It was a mix of tradition and modern sharing, very Pinoy in every way.

As the afternoon continued, everyone waited for the final round. Blackout Bingo. This was the big one. Every square had to be filled to win $100 cash. You could feel the excitement building. Everyone was focused on their cards, reacting to every number called. When the winner was finally announced, the crowd erupted in cheers. It was the perfect ending to an already fun-filled day.

At the end of it all, this was more than just an event at Island Pacific Seafood Market. It felt like a true community gathering. Parang fiesta talaga. From the food and music to the games and shared moments, it showed what Filipino culture is all about. Warmth, joy, and connection.

As the event wrapped up, guests continued shopping, bringing home not just groceries, but a little piece of the celebration.
