Bagong Bayani – Island Pacific Elk Grove

ELK GROVE, Calif – Alma Doshier, the store manager of Island Pacific Elk Grove branch has been selected for the Bagong Bayani Profiles.
Doshier has been serving the community of Elk Grove for the past two years and six months.
Like all supermarkets across the country, hundreds of people visit Island Pacific everyday. And with that many people, the workers took initiative and made sure that the best way to serve the customers is to make sure they are protected.

“We are working together,” said Doshier. “As a matter of fact there is one employee that made a mask for everyone. He made about 80 pieces. As a frontliner we need to protect ourselves, also.”
Under Doshier’s watch, Island Pacific Elk Grove has adjusted to the needs of the community during the different phases of the lockdown.
“People are panicking; buying rice, buying canned goods,” said Doshier. “The happy thing on that first day that happened was we served them all the best that we can.”

Doshier motivated her Island Pacific workers by reminding them that while the virus is a serious threat, it is their responsibility to make sure people get the best customer service. “People need food,” she said. “Families need food. That’s why we’re still here.”
And while social distancing is still enforced, Doshier says that we must accept the fact that we are all in this together.

“We need to embrace even though we cannot embrace physically,” said Doshier.
